Prof. Dr. Igor V. Trushkov

D.Sc. (2015, Lomonosov Moscow State University)
Ph.D. (1993, Lomonosov Moscow State University)
M.S. (1987, Lomonosov Moscow State University)

Head of the Laboratory of Chemical Synthesis, Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology.
Head of the Laboratory of Directed Functionalization of Organic Molecular Systems (No. 33), N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of Russian Academy of Sciences.

Igor V. Trushkov was born in Serov-city (Sverdlovsk region, USSR) in 1964. In 1982 he graduated from school No. 17 in Tyumen, and in 1987 – from the Department of Chemistry of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

After graduation, he worked at Lomonosov Moscow State University until 2016. In 1993 he defended his Ph.D. thesis in the field of Physical Organic Chemistry “Multidimensional reaction coordination diagram as a method for analysis and predicting reactivity in nucleophilic substitution reactions”. From November 1999 to November 2000 he worked as visiting scientist at Inha University, Inchon, Korea. At the beginning of the 21st century, he studied the chemistry of organic fullerene derivatives and the theoretical aspects of the reactivity of organic compounds. Since 2006 Igor V. Trushkov has been investigating the reactivity of donor–acceptor cyclopropanes and (in collaboration with the group of Prof. Alexander V. Butin, later the group of Dr. Maxim G. Uchuskin, Perm State University) the processes of furan ring opening – heterocycle ring closure. In 2015 he defended his D.Sc. thesis in the field of Organic Chemistry “Furans in the synthesis of azaheterocycles”.

Since 2010 Igor V. Trushkov heads the Laboratory of Chemical Synthesis at Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology. From 2016 to 2018 – Professor at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. Moreover, since 2019 he heads the Laboratory of Directed Functionalization of Organic Molecular Systems (No. 33) at N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of Russian Academy of Sciences.

Since 2004 Igor V. Trushkov is a member of Science Committee of All-Russian Chemistry Olympiad for school students. During 2005-2017 he was also a member of Science Committee of the Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad for school students. In 2007, 2013, 2015 he was a member of Science Committee of International Chemistry Olympiad. Since 2016 he is also a member of Science Committee of Olympiad of Metropolises.

Current research interests: chemistry of donor–acceptor cyclopropanes, protic ionic liquids, transformations of furans to other heterocycles, computational organic chemistry.
